The polyvalent symbolism of the trishula is way too much to go into, but this painting of the trishula attempts to visualise the three energy channels or nadis that flow through the human body. Shusmana, Ida and Pingala, the three points of the Trishula, course up from the base of the spine, through each chakra or energy centre, to meet at the sixth chakra. The Shusmana at the centre of the Trishula is longer, reaching further into the crown chakra, the gateway to a higher consciousness.
